How To Transform PLR Into Profitable Info Products

How to Transform PLR

PLR, or private label rights products, are a great resource. You can use private label rights content “as is” and sell it right way. A better way is to transform PLR into a new and improved version, so that you end up with a unique product that no one else has, and that you can sell for a higher price.

Sometimes itmakes sense to use PLR as is, especially if they are a little more difficult to modify, such as videos and audios (and of course software and other tools).

However, you don’t want to put 100% unmodified content into your product lineup.

If you do that, then you’re just selling the same content as your competition. In order to stand out, you need to make at least some of your content unique. And this means you need to rewrite, add, delete and otherwise modify your PLR products.

When you take the time to edit and transform PLR products, you will end up with more profits and you won't be in direct competition with other marketers who are selling the same PLR that you purchased.

Combine Multiple Products

One quick and easy way to transform PLR is to combine multiple PLR products.

Example: You can combine two or three reports to create a new, comprehensive eBook. Or you can combine articles to create reports. Or you can create parts of several reports, articles and eBooks to create a new product.

Generally, you’ll need to create a new introduction and conclusion for the product (at a minimum). You may also wish to tweak (rewrite or otherwise modify) the content to make it sound more like your voice. You’ll learn more about that shortly.

Break Up Bigger Products

Another way to create a new piece of content is to break up a bigger product – such as an eBook – into smaller products.

Example: A 100-page eBook may be broken into five 20-page reports. Or perhaps you can turn this eBook in two reports and dozens of articles.

Here's a big tip: When you break up a report, don't just copy and paste the content. In each report, add some valuable extra information to give even more value. Add resources and links to your other products or to affiliate products where it makes sense.

Change the Format

Yet another way to transform PLR into a unique product is to change the format.

Examples:

Turn text content into an audio product. You could offer an audio as a bonus to a written report. Just record yourself reading the report, and you'll have an audio file in no time. (Hint: Use Audacity to create and edit your audio – it’s free at https://audacity.sourceforge.net)

Turn text content into a video product. Similar to the above tip, you can create slides with key points of your guide, along with some graphics. Do a screen recording of your slides and narrate as you do.

This will give you an easy way to create video. Camtasia Studio is one of the most popular ways to create and edit screen capture videos.  It has a price-tag, but it is certainly worth it: http://www.Techsmith.com.

If you want to save some money, you can get Flashback Pro for $49. They have a free version that doesn't have a lot of features, but it gets the job done. You can get the Flashback Pro by clicking here. And you can get Flashback Express, which is free, by clicking here.

Transform an audio product to text. If you have audio PLR, you can transcribe the files into a text document. You can either do this yourself, or you can pay a service that will do it for you.

You can also do the same thing with a video. You can transcribe the audio and offer it as another part of your offer. To make it even more valuable, you can include any slides or images that you had on your video to add to your document.

Rewrite the Content

You can use this method to transform PLR content into a completely unique product. You can change the order of the chapters, add chapters, add graphics and pictures, and add to it.

What this really means is to write the content in your own words. Often, you'll find that the PLR is hard to follow and read. There may be sentences and sections where you have areas that you feel could be improved or added to.

Example:

The original sentence is:

“Your dog’s appetite is a clue to his overall wellbeing.”

You could rewrite it as:

“If your dog’s appetite suddenly changes, that could be a sign that he isn’t feeling well.”

What I like to do is take it one paragraph at a time. As I'm reading the PLR content, I will write the content in my own words, adding and editing as I go along.

When I get done with a paragraph, I will delete the PLR content and move to the next paragraph.

Tip: Any time you open your file so you can transform PLR products, make sure to save the file with a new name and in a new file. That way, you will still have the original file in case you delete content that you wanted to save. This will save you a lot of headaches down the road.

Rearrange the content. This is where rearrange the content (such as re-arranging the order of tips, chapters and other content).

Example: If a report lists ten major tips – and assuming they don’t need to be in a certain order – you can scramble the order to make the content more unique.

Delete content. Not every word, paragraph or even chapter is worth saving. So delete the unnecessary fluff and filler.

Add in new introductions and conclusions. One easy way to create a unique product is simply by creating a completely new introduction and conclusion. Indeed, if you’re dealing with something short (like a PLR article), this may be all that is needed to make it more unique.

Tell stories. Stories help you connect with the reader – and they also make the content more personal and more unique. For example, if you’re tweaking a weight-loss eBook, you can tell stories about you dealt with certain issues such as cravings.

Insert your own examples. If a product mainly lists tips or gives step-by-step instructions, you can make the content more useful and unique by offering your own examples. (Just look at any of my products – including this report! J – for of how to include examples.)

Give readers your unique tips. Let’s say you’re rewriting a product that how to clean a carburetor on a classic car.

Example: You may offer your own tips, such as “Take plenty of notes and photos as you dismantle the carburetor – doing so will make it easier to put back together.”

Offer bonus content. Finally, you can make the content more unique by adding in graphics, charts, mind maps, checklists, worksheets and other interesting elements.

Example: A weight-loss product may include a weekly grocery shopping list as well as meal plans and recipes.

You now know exactly how to find, evaluate and transform PLR content so that it’s ready to add to your product catalog. You’ll end up making a lot more money with less work, and you will end up with products that are unique to you. PLR is the key that can make that happen.
