Decide on your lead magnet. This is a freebie that you offer as an incentive to get new subscribers. This doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. Your freebie could be a short PDF guide, a workbook, or a video.

It doesn’t have to be dozens of pages or a series of videos. Just offer an incentive that addresses one thing that your audience will have an interest in. A few pages or a short video will do the job.

Create your landing page. This is where you get the opportunity to show your potential subscribers the benefits of being on your list.

Your landing page doesn’t have to be long. Make sure to have a compelling and exciting headline that draws them into the rest of the  page. Include a bulleted list of the benefits and an opt-in form.

Let them know how to get their freebie. Once they subscribe, you can send them to another page on your site where you can offer them a time sensitive offer for a discount on one of your  products. This is a great way to increase your income quickly.

Make sure your meta descriptions are keyword rich. When post titles are lacking, search engines may choose to pull from the meta descriptions instead.

Use keywords in your title. Don’t overdo it, but make sure to use your keyword or keyword phrase. And don’t forget that when a searcher gets to the results page, and your site is listed, you still have to have a headline that gets their attention.

Test your page load speed. A slow page may get penalized by the search engines, ruining your opportunity for the free targeted traffic you’re working for.

If you find that your site is too slow, take the time to see if you can see what is slowing things down. Often there is a script or a plugin that is causing the problem. If you suspect this is the case, do a search for each scipt and plugin and see if other users have had a problem. This will make it quicker for you to get to the problem area and get it fixed.
