In other words – every article, video, audio, social media post, or any other type of content that you create or purchase needs to have a benefit and purpose for your business.

If not, then you are wasting time and money. This article will give you ideas on how to create your own content profit plan. Let's go...

Educate Your Audience

Yes, it’s true, we online business owners have ulterior motives when we create and distribute content. But hey, that’s the nature of marketing and something we all have to get used to even if we’re not immediately comfortable with it. Here is how to use content to educate your audience into buying:

  • Articles, Posts, And Social Media - Use these content pieces as a way to introduce your products and services. These content pieces should contain relevant information related to your products, but not a pure sales page. What you are doing here is letting them know about your new content and add links so they can check it out.
  • In your pre-sell content, iinvite your readers to sign up for a notification list. A great incentive to get them interested in subscribing to your list is to offer a time-limited discount only for subscribers to the notification list.
  • Get creative in the formats of the content. Blog posts, articles, and email messages are good, and you should do them. Consider adding other forms of content as well. We’re talking PDFs, blog posts, audio, worksheets, video, etc. This will help you reach a wider audience and increase the perceived value of the content when your audience sees you releasing all this great and varied stuff.
  • Ask for feedback. Include a link to a page on your site where they can submit comments or include your email address. Ask for comments and encourage questions. Reply to everyone who responds. The feedback and questions can lead to great ideas for additional content covers the topics they asked about.

More Content Profit Plan Ideas

  • Every article and blog post you create should have a link or ad block that leads to ways to either go to a sales page or sign up for your list.
  • Videos are another opportunity to add links. You can reference these links in your video, and include a link on the site the video is hosted on. If you use Youtube to host your videos, you can get the embed code and display it on your site. This makes it easy to include links and ads that lead to your money pages.
  • Any reports or guides that you sell or give away as incentives should always include links to your sales pages and lead capture pages.
  • If you post audio files, you can do the same thing that you do with the videos.

Your content profit plan means that for every type of content, you include ways to get your readers and viewers to go to your web pages and become buyers and subscribers.

Getting Your Content Noticed

There are several ways to get your content noticed. Choose the ones you like and let's get started.

  1. Use social media. A great way to get the word out about your new content is to announce it on social media. Take the time to read and follow any rules that any group you are subscribed has in place. You don't want to put your account at risk.
  2. Create a report for your affiliates. Your affiliates are a great way to get more exposure for your content. Create a small report with links that lead to either your sales page or posts that lead to the sales page. Let your affiliates give the report away to their subscribers and visitors. Make sure to include their affiliate link in the report so that they get credit for each sale.
  3. Post your videos to YouTube. This is a site that gets a ton of traffic, and if you can get noticed there, you can get views and traffic to your site. An added bonus is if your video is popular, other marketers can embed the video on theirs sites, getting you more traffic.
  4. Don't forget your blog. You already knew this. It only makes sense that you announce all new content on your blog.
  5. Submit content to offline publications. You may find that the local paper or magazine accepts article submissions. If they do, and they allow you to include your web address, then you have another great addition to your content profit plan.
  6. Contact website owners. In addition to posting your articles on directory sites, you can search blogs in your niche and see if they accept guest posts. If they do, submit your article. Not every site will accept your article, but if they do, you can tap into another source of traffic and a way to get your content noticed.
  7. Use a press release. There are service that you can use to create and submit a press release about your content and your site. Or you can do it yourself. An online search will give you a lot of options on how to get this done.
  8. Record and submit your podcast. Podcasts are popular, and there are sites where you can host them for free or for a relatively low cost.
  9. Tell your email list. Your email list subscribers should be the first to know any and every time you have new content.

Reuse Your Content

Your content profit plan will always benefit when you reuse your content. What this means is that you add to the content, edit the content, use the content to create another format, or put several parts together to create a course.
