Creating Content That Customers Want To Buy

Creating Content They Want

There is a popular saying that "Content Is King". Just about everything you do includes creating content of some type. It may seem that the more content you create, the better your results.

The truth is that without a plan, backed by research and knowing the goals for your business, you can end up spending a lot of time and effort, and not getting the results that you expected.

In this article, we'll cover ways you can use to ensure that when creating content, you get the most out of it. Let's get started with...

Why Creating Content Is Awesome

Creating content gives you a ton of benefits. Here are just a few:

  • It’s inexpensive.
  • Creates loyal fans and customers.
  • Establishes your expertise and credibility.
  • Gets you free search traffic.
  • Can get you referrals.
  • Gets the notice of media outlets such as blogs and podcasts.

This article will give you ideas so you can get the same benefits.

What Does Your Target Market Want?

Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with ideas for what type of content you should create. You'll have to spend a lot of time and effort getting everything together, so you want to be sure that there are buyers out there.

The good news is that it is really simple to find out what people in your market want to buy, and what they are already spending their money on already. You just have to spend some time doing "Market Research". Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds.

In addition, if you DO take the time to do the research and discover what your niche market is interested in, you'll be way ahead of the competitors that didn't bother to find out.

Here are just a few ways to learn what they  want to learn and the types of products they buy/want to buy.

Ask Your List:

A dead simple way to find content ideas is to ask your subscribers what they are interested in. Of course you know that they are interested in your niche. Ask them what type of training or product they would be interested in. You can use a survey or a quiz, or just look at the replies you get.

See what they are talking about:

Visit forums and social media groups related to your niche. Read through the posts and you'll have a wealth of information on what questions and problems they are having.
This is the information you need when creating content that you are going to offer for sale. You'll know what they are interested in, and all it took was visiting a few sites.

Keyword research

To better target your niches, come up with a list of keywords that you think your potential buyers will use to find the type of product that you are thinking of creating. What you want to see is the sites that come up on the first couple pages of search results.
These are the sites that you have to beat if you want to take their place in the search results. Visit the sites and see what products they are selling, and see if there are customer reviews available.
You can also get a much better idea of the price you can get for your product. And you'll also get a feel for how much content you have to have to get the sale.
See what your competitors are doing. What types of content do they give their readers and what do their readers respond to? Again, your audience may be unique from theirs but look for competitors who share a similar style and focus to you and you’ll get some great ideas from there.

There are a few free tools that you can use to get keyword ideas. There is an addon for your Chrome and Firefox  called keywords everywhere. Go to keywordseverywhere.com to read about it and how to add it to your browser. You can use it for free, or you can purchase credits to get more detailed results.

There are 2 other sites that I use that are free. One is answerthepublic.com, and the other one is answersocrates.com.

Books In Your Niche

One of my favorite ways to get ideas is to look at books in my niche. And I do it from the comfort of my office chair in front of my computer. I'm talking about Amazon.com
Go to the book section and enter your niche keywords. For every book that comes up, click on the cover image in the area that says "Look Inside".
This will open up the first few pages of the book. The most valuable part of this is the table of contents. These are headlines and idea that you can use for your product.
What I  like to do is open a text document, and then copy and paste all of the chapter headings that I find. After doing this a few times, I end up with a really nice list of ideas that I can adapt and use when creating content for my business.
Then I read the pages that are available in the preview and get even more ideas.
And to complete the process, I then scroll down and read the customer reviews. If the reviews are good, I know what my product has to include. If the reviews are bad, I learn what I can do to make my product even better.

Creating content that sells is a lot easier when you do the research to find out what they are buying and what they are interested in.

The added benefit of taking the time to do the research is that you now know where your target market hangs out and how you can reach them. And you have the keyword that you can use if you decide to do pay per click ads.

I hope that these tips give you ideas and direction so that you can create information products that you know that your market wants to buy. Good Luck!
